Fourth of July Week Fun!

Though it was a shorter week, we still packed in a lot of activities to celebrate the 4th of July! Check out the awesome flag (pictured above) we made with our hand-prints 😎

On Tuesday, we donned our best red, white and blue gear and trekked over to Central School playground to do some chalk painting. It was very festive! After, we made an impromptu trip to the Tri-Cities Historical Museum, where we met local fur trader Edward Robinson. He told us all about early fur trade in Grand Haven- so interesting!

Yesterday, we took the Harbor Transit to East End Park (or East Grand River Park, if you want to be formal) for a picnic and a playground adventure. This park is awesome! It's located at the far east end of Franklin St. Did you know that, while it's been a boat launch for many years, it did not become a park until 1994, and was chosen as a memorial to Officer Scott Flahive? It has a great playground, but our favorite part is the boardwalk that takes you out to a lookout on the river. If you're lucky, you might catch a sighting of a muskrat or even a swan!

Stay tuned for more adventures next week, but in the meantime, you can enjoy the photos from this week:

Chalk Drawings and Airport Tour!

Whew, it's been a jam-packed week, and it's only Thursday :)

Yesterday, we walked over to Central Park and channeled our inner Picasso as we beautified the sidewalks with colorful chalk! As you can see in the above photo, it was a messy job, but someone had to do it, am I right?! We hope visitors to the park are enjoying our drawings 😀

Today was a super special day! We rode the Harbor Transit to the Grand Haven Memorial Airport, where they gave us a tour and showed us the cockpits of a few planes (one was even being repaired in the hangar!). We met a pilot and a skydiver, who explained the art of skydiving. They showed us the "squirrel suit" and all the equipment needed for skydiving- we even watched them in action as they jumped from the plane, followed by a plane doing tricks in the sky! 😲 What a great day, and an awesome experience for all!

Pottawatomie and the Grand Haven State Park!

Boy, have we been busy the past few days! Last week Friday, we ventured out to Pottawatomie Park in GH Township, and yesterday (Monday) we got to visit the Grand Haven State Park! What a blast!

Pottawatomie Park is located off of Comstock, and offers a large playground, picnic pavilions, open space to run around, hiking trails, volleyball courts, and Pottawatomie Bayou (where you can kayak, canoe, fish, etc.)! This has always been one of our favorite parks to visit, as there is so much to do and lots of area to release our energy :) We explored the playground and finished up with a picnic lunch before heading off on the Harbor Transit back to Joyful Noise.

Yesterday, we were so excited to be able to visit the beach at the Grand Haven State Park, where we played on the playground equipment, dipped our toes in the COLD water 😆, and built sand castles! After, we enjoyed another picnic lunch before traveling back to school. The weather was gorgeous, and we had so much fun, especially in the sand!

Stay tuned for more adventures later this week....
